Help!
We are going to family reunion and, like anyone with little kids, we are dreading the drive. Does anyone have any good ideas when it comes to traveling with an almost 3 year old and a 10 month old? I can use tips on anything from food, sleep, activities etc. I know that most of you have traveled long distance more than we have (if you have done it with kids more than once you are officially an expert in my book!). So please leave your comments or email me if you have so many you can't fit it all in a comment. Thank you so much in advance. We can't wait to see you all at reunion.

Netty... We're dreading it too. Lots of new snacks (get kinds they've never seen before) New toys. Comfy blankets. Time it during nap times. Portable DVD player? ( maybe you can borrow one?) Good luck. Can't wait to see ya!
When we drove from Iowa to Utah twice in a 6 week period (!) we did some fun things with our kids. We bought six dollar store presents for each one, wrapped them in cheap wrapping paper, and when they started acting up we would pull one out for each one to open.
Also, those long pipe cleaners are fun for them to twist into cool creations. Or purchase Fruit Loops and have her thread them onto the pipe cleaners.
Playing I Spy out the window
Having a couple of kids' cds with fun songs she can learn or sing along with.
Good luck!
we are too dreading the drive! I've been racking my brain for activities too...we don't have a portable dvd player but we use the laptop. Good treats...maybe a new book. When we were little and went to WA every year we each had our own 'travel bag' we put some games, paper, crayons, etc in and that was fun. I like to let the boys listen to my old personal cd player so i don't have to listen to kid music the WHOLE time! I've heard post it's are fun. Buy the little ones and they can draw, stick and play with the whole stack. Can't wait...!!
oh and make sure you have something to keep the sun out when it's blaring in the windows at nap time!
i'm sure we'll all have stories about the "trip" after we get there -- assuming we make it through. ;) i think i'll take some of these ideas and run!
